Bangalore Multi-Purpose Social Service Society (BMSSS) of the Archdiocese of Bangalore organized a cancer awareness program at St. Anthony’s Church situated in Basavanapura, Bannerughatta road on 4th February 2020.
The awareness program targeted the parish community of Basavanapura in collaboration with St. Philomena’s Hospital to spread awareness about cancer and to provide free medical check-ups. The entire medical camp was being monitored by Sr. Sicilia, Dr. Smitha, and Dr. Dore Babu along with the nurses as well as technicians from St. Philomena’s Hospital.
The medical camp commenced with the culmination of the Holy Eucharist. Along with the Basavanapura parishioners, there were men and women belonging to self – help groups of nearby locality Begur to avail free medical check-up.
Dr. Smitha addressed the participant and briefed them about the types, causes and the ways to prevent cancer. For about 100 numbers of people participated in the camp.
Fr. Naveen Kumar, Director of BMSSS, Mr. Bala Praveen, SPARSHA Coordinator along with the staff members were present at the program.
