Bangalore: Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil sdb, who was abducted by unidentified gunmen in Yemen on March 4th 2016 called on Archbishop Peter Machado on September 6th conveying his gratitude to the Archbishop and former Archbishop Rev Bernard Moras and to all the Faithful in the Archdiocese for their prayers. The Prelate expressed his joy on seeing Fr Tom and assured him of continued prayers.
After living 557 days in rather lonely captivity in some unknown locations, Fr Tom was finally released on 12th September 2017. At the reception in Bangalore, Vicar General Monsignor S Jayanathan was present to represent the Archdiocese.
Fr. Tom was accompanied by Fr. MK George, Rector of the Provincial house and Provincial secretary Fr. Freddy.
The Archbishop felicitated Fr. Tom shortly before lunch, Vicar General Fr. S Jayanathan and Financial Administrator Fr. VM Gregory and Chancellor Fr. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar also greeted Fr. Tom.
Fr. Tom, appearing grace-filled, calm and composed, presented the Archbishop his autobiography titled "By the Grace of God".
Fr. Tom was serving as Chaplain to the Missionaries of Charity in Yemen.
His autobiography reads as a 'Classical testimony to the truth that the Lord alive hears our prayers and that He would surely answer it in His own good time'.
