Bangalore, October 4, 2025: The Basilica Deanery celebrated its Small Christian Communities (SCC) and Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Jubilee Programme on October 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Road. The event brought together around 120 participants from nine parishes, along with religious sisters from various congregations, in a joyful spirit of faith, fellowship, and renewal. The celebration began with the veneration of the Bible and the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing Christ, the Light of the World, who illumines the life and mission of every Christian community.

Fr. Christopher Gerald White, Secretary of the SCC Commission, delivered the introductory talk, highlighting the beauty of living the Gospel within neighbourhood communities. He said, “The SCC is not just a structure but a way of life where faith becomes personal, shared, and active in every neighbourhood.” His words invited the participants to rediscover the true spirit of communion and participation in parish life.

Fr. Maxim Dias, Regional Secretary for SCC, enriched the gathering with his insightful presentation on the purpose and process of SCCs, and practically demonstrated the seven steps of Gospel sharing. He shared, “The seven-step Gospel sharing method transforms small gatherings into living encounters with Christ and with one another.” His session inspired parish leaders to make SCC meetings more prayerful and participatory.

Fr. Lourde Santhosh, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, explained the role of PPC in strengthening SCCs, emphasizing collaboration between parish leadership and the faithful. He remarked, “The PPC is the bridge that connects parish vision with the grassroots life of SCCs—together they build the body of Christ in unity and service.” His talk deepened the understanding of how both SCCs and PPCs complement each other in the mission of the Church.

Fr. Maria Louis, Dean of the Basilica Deanery, appreciated the active participation of all parishes and encouraged them to continue nurturing vibrant communities of faith. He said, “Every SCC is a seed of hope planted in our neighbourhoods—when nourished with prayer and love, it bears the fruit of true Christian fellowship.” His message echoed the call of the Jubilee Year to live as missionary disciples in everyday life.
The programme concluded with a prayer and blessing by Fr. Christy Raj, Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Church, who reminded everyone, “In this Jubilee, let us renew our mission to be communities of faith, hope, and love that radiate Christ to the world.” The event ended joyfully with a photo session and refreshments, leaving participants inspired to continue building living, loving, and serving communities across the deanery.
