Archbishop asks children to imitate the Biblical Heroes at the Archdiocesan Bible Fest 2018


The Archdiocese Commission for Bible and Catechetics organized “Archdiocese Bible Fest- 2018” for all the Sunday Catechism Children on 2nd December 2018 at St. Aloysius High school, Cox Town from 9 am to 5:30 pm. The Bible Fest was coordinated by Fr. Benedict Rajesh. A, Joint Secretary of the Archdiocese Commission of the Bible and the Catechetics, and in-charge for the Bible Apostolate in the Archdiocese of Bangalore, along with Fr. Jude Santosh, Secretary of the Archdiocese Commission of the Bible and the Catechetics and Fr. Anthony Pravin Rajan, Joint Secretary of the Archdiocese Commission of the Bible and the Catechetics. The theme for the Bible fest was “Proclaiming Jesus to all” and based on this theme many competitions were conducted for the children such as Bible Quiz, Biblical Choreography, Biblical Skit, Biblical Fancy Dress, Biblical Painting and Sketching and Recitation of the Biblical Psalms/Bible Passage. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore Bible as well as to express their love and knowledge of the Bible. This type of Archdiocesan programme was first of its kind in the Archdiocese of Bangalore.



There were 45 Parishes from the Archdiocese of Bangalore who participated in the Bible Fest. The events were conducted simultaneously at different halls with the help of 75 volunteers from various parishes of the Archdiocese. Many eminent persons were invited to judge the events performed. The Catechism teachers, animators, ministry brothers and sisters also accompanied the children. Lunch and refreshments were provided to all those present for the Fest. The Bible Fest was concluded with a Holy Mass by Archbishop Peter Machado who gave a beautiful message encouraging children that they have to become Biblical Heroes and he quoted various biblical characters such as Moses, Joshua, etc., and he also said that for the nourishment of the body and soul, the Word of God must be consumed daily without fail. Then the Archbishop distributed the Prizes for the winners. Three Prizes were awarded for each event.



The overall Winner Rolling Trophy was awarded to Our Lady of Velankanni Church, Yelahanka, and the 1st Runner up trophy to Christa Karunalaya Church, Jaraganahalli and 2nd Runner up trophy to St. Joseph’s Church, Solur were awarded. A special trophy was awarded to St. Thomas Church, Kanakanagar for being a disciplined parish.
