Archbishop celebrates Children's Mass at SFX Cathedral


Bangalore, September 2, 2022: Most Rev Dr Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore celebrated Children's Mass at St Francis Xavier's Cathedral in Cleveland Town. 215 students from St. Aloysius School, St. Anthony's School and St. Rock's School were present at the Eucharistic celebration. These three schools are located in the premises of the Cathedral.


These 215 students are members of the Catch Them Young (CTC) project. The CTC project is the brainchild of the Bible Commission of the Archdiocese of Bangalore. The aim of the CTC program is to give them purely Bible Classes so that the values of the Bible are inculcated in them at a young age.


The mass commenced with the procession and Bible enthronement. The liturgy was conducted by children as they actively participated in every aspect of the Holy Eucharist.


Speaking in his homily and addressing the children, the Archbishop exhorted the children to become the carriers of the Word of God. He asked the parents and the teachers to discipline the children in faith and morals on the principles of the Bible. The prelate also encouraged that these institutes should contribute more and more vocations to the Church.


At the end of the Mass, he distributed the Holy Bibles to the selected 42 students.


Rev. Sr. Virginia Rajakumari, SAB, the Secretary of the Archdiocesean Bible Commission appreciated and thanked the Archbishop for his presence and encouragement.


Fr. John Antony the Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier's Cathedral, Fr. Amarnath Dinesh Roy, the Principal of St. Aloysius, Fr. Arokiaraja, the Principal of St. Antony’s School and Sr. Anjali the Principal of St. Rock’s School and all the members of the Bible Commission and the teachers of the respective schools were present at the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
