Bangalore, December 30, 2022: Most Rev. Dr Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore, inaugurated Family Year 2023 in the Archdiocese of Bangalore in a solemn Holy Eucharist at Holy Family Church, Rammurthynagar, Bangalore.
Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, Msgr. S. Jayanthan, Msgr. C. Francis, Vicars General of the Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Xavier Manavath, CMF, Episcopal Vicar for Religious, and a number of diocesan and religious priests took part in the Holy Eucharist.
Speaking in his homily, the Archbishop highlighted the importance of families, especially Christian families. He articulated that families are the backbone of the Christian Faith and that all our families must draw inspiration from the Holy Family.
"Holiness in the family is nothing but submitting to the will of God. Mary, Jesus and Joseph are the epitome of all families. Mary said yes to the will of God, Jesus obeyed the Heavenly Father and Joseph also submitted to the will of the Father. We become holy when we wholeheartedly submit ourselves to God." the prelate said.
Archbishop Machado also consecrated the families of the Archdiocese to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Moras released a booklet named "Let Our Families be Christ-centered, prepared by the Family Commission of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, and handed over the first copy to Archbishop Peter Machado.
Archbishop thanked the clergy, religious and parishoners of Holy Family Church, Rammurthynagar, for their warm invitation, participation and for all the arrangements made in view of the inauguration of the Family Year 2023.
Rev. Fr. Susairaj P., extended his gratitude to Archbishop Peter Machado and Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Moras for their support in every activity of the parish and thanked everyone gathered for their prayerful participation in the Inaugural Eucharist of Family Year 2023 in the Archdiocese of Bangalore.
