Archbishop Peter Machado Inaugurates Annual Feast Preparations at Bengaluru's Infant Jesus Shrine in Viveknagar

Bengaluru, January 4, 2024: The preparations for the annual feast of Infant Jesus Shrine in Viveknagar commenced today with a special ceremony. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore, Most Rev Dr. Peter Machado, hoisted the sacred flag and presided over the Holy Eucharist marking the first day of the Novena.

Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mysore, invoked the blessings of Infant Jesus upon the devotees present. Shri. N. A. Harris, Member of Legislative Assembly representing Shanthinagar Assembly Constituency, was among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony. In his address, he emphasized the importance of recognizing our shared humanity beyond differences of caste, color, creed, language, and religion.

Archbishop Peter Machado highlighted the unifying power of Infant Jesus, stating that the shrine in Viveknagar serves as a symbol of harmonious coexistence, where people from all walks of life come together in prayer and devotion. Vicars General of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, Msgr. S. Jayanathan and Msgr. C. Francis, along with several diocesan and religious priests, participated in the Holy Eucharist as concelebrants.

The ceremony marked the beginning of a period of prayer and preparation leading up to the annual feast, which is a significant event for the devotees of Infant Jesus Shrine in Viveknagar.
