Archdiocesan Commission for Labour distributes e-SHRAM cards


Bangalore, March 19, 2022: On the Feast day of St.Joseph, the patron of workers, the commission for labour organized a program for the distribution of e-SHRAM cards & Labour Cards for the workers. The program held at St.Joseph’s Block, Paalana Bhavana, Archdiocese pastoral center. Archbishop Peter Machado and various other priests participated in the program to encourage the initiative of commission for labour.

Under the guidance of Archbishop Peter Machado the registration of e-SHRAM cards and labour cards, the benefit schemes for workers from Central and State Government were initiated in the month of September 2021, throughout the archdiocese of Bangalore. The office representatives from the Commission for labour took initiative in conducting awareness program and registering the cards for workers in their respective Parish Churches and localities of the workers.



The cards were procured for both organized and unorganized sector workers at different Archdiocese deanery and Parish levels. On the feast day for the patron of workers, Archbishop Peter Machado, inaugurated and distributed the e-SHRAM cards and Labour cards for workers. There were hundreds of workers from both organized and unorganized sectors who witnessed and participated in the event.

The main objective of this scheme is for the workers and labourers of this country. It has been created for the welfare of all unorganized workers, so that all the workers can get benefit at once. The card also gives one the identity of a labourer of India.

Rev. Fr. Antony Mahendran G is the secretary and Fr. Victor CPPS is the joint secretary of the Commission for labour.
