“Be kings and queens of Christ” says Archbishop to the youth at Reach Out 2018(ICYM)

The annual inter parish cultural competitions for youth of Bangalore Archdiocese called ‘Reach-Out’ was held on 24th & 25th of November. There were twenty parishes that participated and competed in various events, held at Paalana Bhavan. Reach out is a time for youth to showcase their abundant talents and team spirit. Parishes under the support and patronage of their respective parish priests were in full flow competing and collaborating. The various events such as pot painting, scavenger hunt, wealth out of waste, collage making, Bible quiz, bouquet arrangements were held on Saturday. The other events like singing, a minute to fame, walk the Bible, Biblical fashion show and Dance competitions were held on Sunday,

Archbishop Peter Machado visited the venue and witnessed some competitions. In His address to the youth Archbishop called on them to be “kings and queens of Christ” on the occasion of Christ the King feast. The prelate also added after watching the bible based enactments ‘there is Judas in us, and also Peter in us, we must incorporate the good biblical characters from the Bible and make it part of our own lives’.

The new youth Director Fr. Amarnath urged the youth saying that ‘you as youth have amazing talent and bundle of energy; it was a delight to watch your performances, use your talent for the glory of God. And also said that Reach out is not only a time to compete but also a time to reach out to other Christian friends from various parishes and build the Christian bonding and fellowship.

Reach-out competition carries over all championship with cash prize of ten thousand rupees to the winners and five thousand to the runners besides individual and group prizes. The youth contests were so close and competitive so much so the judges found it difficult to tell who is a clear winner; they had to declare joint winners for some events. After two days of hectic activities, St.John the Evangelist Church emerged as the overall and the runners were St Anthony’s Church of kavalbysandra.

Fr. Amarnath, who gave away the prizes along with youth joint secretary Fr Arul raj Sampath, thanked the Diocesan youth leaders Jerry, Dennis, Siby, Moses, Harry, Neil, Sharon, Manasa, Navya, Sr Ruffina youth lady animator, and Sujay for their hard work and commitment in organizing this event.
