Bengaluru, September 14, 2023 — A delegation of Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops, led by Metropolitan Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, convened a meaningful meeting with Chief Minister Shri. Siddaramaiah at his residence, "Krishna," located on Racecourse Road.
During the meeting, Archbishop Peter Machado, along with other bishops, extended their warm felicitations to the Chief Minister, presenting him with a beautifully crafted Mysore Silk shawl and a garland as tokens of their appreciation.
The primary focus of the gathering was to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister and his government for the establishment of the Christian Development Board, along with an allocation of a substantial grant of Rs. 100 crores. This initiative aims to uplift and support the Christian community within the state.
In addition to expressing their gratitude, the Catholic prelates of Karnataka also submitted a formal request letter to CM Siddaramaiah, outlining specific concerns and issues faced by the Christian community in the region. These concerns encompassed various aspects of community development and welfare.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took the opportunity to praise the noteworthy contributions of the Christian community, emphasizing their significant roles in education, healthcare, and social services. He assured the bishops of his commitment to addressing the issues presented in their request letter, expressing a positive and cooperative stance toward the community's needs.
The meeting concluded on a harmonious note, with both parties looking forward to continued collaboration and progress for the betterment of the Christian community in Karnataka.
