Celebrating the Living Word: Bible Sunday 2026 in the Archdiocese

The Archdiocese joyfully celebrated the Word of God Sunday (Bible Sunday) on 25 January 2026 with great enthusiasm and devotion. The year-long celebration of the Word of God is centered on the theme, “The Word of Christ dwells among you” (Colossians 3:16). In preparation for this significant occasion, the Commission provided all parishes with posters and liturgical reflections to facilitate meaningful celebrations. Across the Archdiocese, parishes organized solemn Bible processions, enthronement ceremonies, and community gatherings, all of which highlighted the centrality of the Word of God in Christian life. 

To foster creative participation and deepen engagement with the Word of God, the Commission organized a one-minute video competition highlighting Bible Sunday celebrations and related parish activities. This initiative not only generated enthusiasm among the faithful but also provided a dynamic platform for parishes to express their love for Sacred Scripture in imaginative and meaningful ways. The competition saw vibrant participation across communities, reflecting a shared commitment to celebrating the Word.

The winners will be duly honoured: first place is awarded to Holy Family Church, Ramamurthy Nagara; second place to St Antony’s Church, New Guddadahalli; and third place to St Rita’s Church, Kanakapura. As a gesture of encouragement and appreciation, the Commission will present these parishes with copies of the Bible, affirming and strengthening their ongoing dedication to living and proclaiming the Word of God.
