Bangalore, May 8, 2025: The Archdiocese of Bangalore joins the Universal Church in joyfully welcoming Pope Leo XIV , the newly elected 267th Successor of St. Peter , as the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.


The announcement of his election has brought great happiness and renewed hope to the faithful across the Archdiocese. Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado , Auxiliary Bishops Rt. Rev. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar and Rt. Rev. Joseph Susainathan , along with all priests, religious, and laity, extend their warm congratulations and prayerful best wishes to the Holy Father as he begins his mission of shepherding the Church.


Across parishes, convents, and institutions, the news has been received with immense enthusiasm. Church bells rang out, thanksgiving prayers were held, and special intentions were offered during daily Masses. Many faithful gathered in their churches to express their joy and to pray for Pope Leo XIV's guidance, wisdom, and strength as he leads the Church in these times.
