First Death Anniversary of Archbishop Ignatius Pinto observed at SFX Cathedral

Bengaluru, February 8, 2024: A solemn Holy Mass was conducted at St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral in Cleveland Town, Bangalore, to mark the first death anniversary of Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Paul Pinto, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore. The service was attended by a congregation of priests, religious, and faithful, including the family members of the late Archbishop Pinto.


The Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore, who led the congregation in prayer and blessed the tomb of Archbishop Pinto at the beginning of the service. All the bishops of Karnataka, along with the bishop-elect of Karwar Diocese, Msgr. Duming Dias, participated as concelebrants in the Eucharist, underscoring the unity and solidarity of the Church in honoring the memory of Archbishop Pinto.




During the homily, delivered by Msgr. S. Jayanathan, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, poignant anecdotes from the life of Archbishop Ignatius Paul Pinto were shared, highlighting his unwavering devotion to the Church and the Ministry of Jesus Christ. Msgr. Jayanathan also commended Archbishop Pinto's notable contributions to the church of Shivamogga and Bangalore, reflecting on his enduring legacy of service and faith.


The commemorative Holy Mass was a solemn and reverent occasion, where the faithful gathered to honor the life and legacy of Archbishop Ignatius Paul Pinto, offering prayers for his eternal rest and giving thanks for his dedicated service to the Church and the community.
