The Archdiocese of Bangalore observed All Souls’ Day with deep reverence and gratitude on November 12, 2025, at the Priests’ Cemetery within the campus of Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Road. The day began with the monthly recollection for priests, followed by a solemn Holy Eucharist celebrated amidst the peaceful surroundings where generations of priests rest in the Lord.

The Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore, and preached by Auxiliary Bishop Rt. Rev. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar. Archbishop Emeritus Rt. Rev. Bernard Moras and Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Joseph Susainathan concelebrated the Eucharist, joined by a large number of priests and lay faithful who came together to pray for the repose of the souls of the departed clergy.

In his message, Archbishop Peter Machado reflected, “Every priest who has gone before us leaves behind a legacy of faith, sacrifice, and service. As we stand before their tombs, we are called to live with the same zeal and dedication for the people of God.”

Preaching during the Holy Mass, Bishop Arokiaraj Satis Kumar reminded the congregation, “Our priestly life is a bridge between heaven and earth. Death is not the end, but a homecoming to eternal communion with Christ, the High Priest.”

The cemetery, beautifully adorned with flowers and candles, became a sacred place of remembrance and thanksgiving. After the Mass, the bishops, priests, and

faithful processed through the cemetery, blessing the graves and offering prayers for the eternal rest of the departed priests who had served the Archdiocese with devotion.

The celebration stood as a touching reminder of the unity of the Church — both living and departed — and of the enduring bond of priestly fraternity. United in prayer and remembrance, the clergy and faithful gave thanks for the lives of those who once guided them in faith and now rest in the Lord’s embrace.
