Bangalore: "You were little babies when you were baptized and your parents renewed their baptismal vows on your behalf. Now you are going to receive the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation and are going to profess your faith consciously" Archbishop Rev Peter Machado told 33 communicants at St. Peter's Church, Rustam Bagh, Sunday June 30th.
The congregation, pastored by parish priest Monsignor S.Jayanathan ( vicar general of the Archdiocese) were celebrating their parish feast.
The Prelate, speaking on the Gospel theme " Follow me" spoke of how people chase after so many as role models but as Christians, he said "our primary role model should be Jesus".
After the Holy Mass, that began 4.30pm, the Archbishop inaugurated and blessed open a new Church office and pastoral room that will also serve as a counselling centre. A digital display board was unveiled later. The digital display will carry a daily gospel message.
Assistant Parish Priest Fr Arockiadoss and other priests joined in the celebrations. The communicants were impressively clad in uniformity with a white robe marked by a cross. In their offerings, they made monetary contributions for the welfare of the Archdiocesan programs for the poor.
St. Peter's Church is nestled behind manipal hospital on old airport Road.
