Bangalore, July 16, 2022: The Faithful of Mount Carmel Church at Mariapura beamed with joy as they celebrated the Annual of their parish dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Church in Mariapura is one of the historically significant churches in the Archdiocese of Bangalore.
The festal celebrations kicked off with blessing of the chariot carrying the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore. The Chariot went around the church as people treading in procession recited Holy Rosary devoutly.
Archbishop Peter Machado presided over the solemn Holy Eucharist with the parish priest Rev. Fr. A. Thomas and other religious priests. The prelate also administered the sacrament of Confirmation to 47 children of the parish on this auspicious occasion.
As he spoke in his homily, the Archbishop highlighted the 3 important traits of the Blessed Lady. “Firstly, Our Lady is the Mother of hope, who gives hope to the hopeless. Secondly, Our Lady is the one who protects and safeguards her children with her mantle from all evil forces. Thirdly, Our Lady enables her children to always walk in the footsteps of Jesus.” he added.
After the solemn Holy Eucharist, Archbishop Peter Machado blessed and inaugurated the newly built grotto in the premises of the church.
