Bengaluru, August 23, 2025 — In a landmark step towards restoring hope and stability in the lives of children affected by conflict, St. Xavier’s School, Bengaluru, inaugurated a new hostel facility dedicated to displaced children from Manipur. The initiative, spearheaded by the Bangalore Multipurpose Social Service Society (BMSSS), reflects the Archdiocese of Bangalore’s ongoing commitment to serving vulnerable communities with dignity and compassion.

The inauguration ceremony was led by His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore, who began the event with a solemn prayer service, invoking God’s blessings on the new residence and its young occupants. Prayer songs followed, creating an atmosphere of hope and thanksgiving. Addressing the children, Rev. Fr. James encouraged them to pursue their education with determination, reminding them that the Church stands firmly by their side in this new chapter of life.

The Archbishop officially declared the facility open by cutting the ribbon, unveiling the newly constructed dormitory, kitchen, and refectory. In his vote of thanks, Rev. Fr. Arokia Raj expressed deep gratitude to donors, volunteers, diocesan partners, and school authorities whose tireless efforts made this project possible.

This new hostel will serve as a home for 11 children displaced by ongoing unrest in Manipur. They will continue their studies at St. Xavier’s School until the completion of their SSLC, receiving not only education but also the care, stability, and community support needed to flourish during these formative years.

BMSSS extended heartfelt thanks to the Archdiocese of Bangalore and all supporters who have stood in solidarity with the displaced and marginalized. With this initiative, the Society reaffirmed its mission to be a source of healing, hope, and transformation for those most in need.
