We regret to inform you the sad demise of Bishop J.B. Sequeira (aged 89 years), Bishop Emeritus of Chikmagalur, passed away on 9th October, 2019 at 11.20 p.m. due to old age ailments at the Home of the Little Sisters of the Poor on Hosur Road, Bangalore. The details of his Funeral Service will be intimated to you later.
On behalf of His Grace the Archbishop Peter Machado and all of us, we express our deepest condolences to Bishop T. Anthony Swamy, Bishop of Chikmagalur, and the Priests, Religious and Lay faithful of the Diocese of Chikmagalur.

Bishop J. B. Sequeira was born on 23 July 1930 and ordained priest on 15 April 1958. He was appointed the second Bishop of Chikmagalur on 26 January 1987 at the age of 56. He was ordained Bishop on 11 June 1987 by Most Rev. Alphonsus Mathias, the Archbishop of Bangalore. He resigned from the pastoral governance of the diocese of Chikmagalur on 2 December, 2006 at the age of 76. He is a priest for 61 years and a Bishop for 32 years.
A prayer Service was conducted for the Late Bishop J. B. Sequeira by Msgr. S. Jayanathan this morning at the Chapel of the Little Sisters of the Poor along with Sr Margaret (Bishop's sister)Â and Sr Tressy (grand niece) and others. RIP
