SERRA Bangalore Expands its Mission: Inducts New Members on Feast of The Epiphany

Bengaluru, January 6, 2024: Serra International, a lay organization recognized by the Pope for fostering and promoting vocations to the Catholic Church, continues to grow its presence in Bangalore. On the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6, 2024, SERRA Bangalore welcomed 12 new members dedicated to working for vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated life in the Catholic Church.

The induction ceremony took place at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Bangalore, during the 6:00 pm mass, which was celebrated by Most Rev. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore. Also present were Rev. Fr. Arokia Swamy, Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, and Rev. Fr. Sandeep Menezes, C.Ss.R., Assistant Chaplain of Serra Bangalore.

During the ceremony, Archbishop Machado reminded the new Serra members of their commitment and took a pledge from them to work for the cause of Serra International. He blessed them and presented each with a Membership Certificate. The new members were then introduced to the congregation by Rev. Fr. Sandeep Menezes, C.Ss.R.

In his homily, Archbishop Machado drew parallels between life's journey and the Three Kings' search for the Newborn babe. He urged Serra members to assist those seeking God, guiding them in their spiritual journey and promoting vocations within their families. He emphasized that each vocation is a unique love story between God and man. The Archbishop expressed gratitude to the Serra members for their contributions to the Church and blessed them and their families.

As a symbol of their mission, Archbishop Machado blessed the Apostles Crucifix and entrusted it to Ms. Anisha Lingham, President of Serra Bangalore, marking a new chapter in the organization's commitment to fostering vocations in Bangalore.

Serra Bangalore's expansion and induction of new members demonstrate its dedication to nurturing vocations within the Catholic Church and its continued efforts to support individuals on their spiritual paths.
