Bangalore February 2, 2020: The faithful of Holy Family Church in Ramamurthy Nagar witnessed the first step which initiated the process of building a new Church on February 2, 2020. The growing parish felt the need to expand its infrastructure to accommodate and facilitate more faithful in the Church.
The history of Holy Family Parish, till now a small Church, dates back to 1975. To facilitate the Christian families working in the ITI Company, the Archdiocese of Bangalore then purchased land through the Salesian priests of Kristu Jyothi Seminary in T.C. Palya.
Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado blessed the foundation stone while Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras laid the foundation stone in the presence of Shri. Byrathi Basavaraj, Cabinet Minister in the Government of Karnataka. The church is estimated to cost 4 Crore rupees.
Speaking at the program, Rev. Fr. Amarnath Dinesh Roy, Parish Priest of Holy Family Church praised the prelates Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado and Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras. He said “Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras is like King David who built the presbytery and Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado is like King Solomon who built the Temple.”
