Bangalore, November 20, 2022: Christ the King parish in Byrathi bustled with festivities as it observed its annual feast of Christ the King on November 20, 2022.
Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore presided over the solemn eucharistic celebration with other priests as concelebrants.
Archbishop Machado also administered the sacrament of Confirmation to 71 candidates.
Speaking in his homily, he delineated the Kingship of Jesus Christ and his Kingdom, pointing out that He is the King who reigns over our hearts.
Addressing the candidates, he said "By recieving the Sacrament of Confirmation, you're going to become little princes and princesses of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe."
"We're Christians because we are baptized. Baptism is such an important sacrament without which we don't become Christians, so is the sacrament of Confirmation. We renew our baptismal promises in the sacrament of confirmation." the prelate added.
After the conclusion of the Mass, on behalf of the Parish Community, the Parish Priest felicitated the Archbishop as he thanked him for his gracious presence.
Besides Rev. Fr. James Prabhu, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Vivek Lionel Basu, Secretary to Archbishop, Rev. Fr. Rajesh, Rev. Fr. Arogyadass, SAC, and Rev. Fr. George Anthony, SCJ, were present at the festal mass.
The annual festivities of Christ the King Church culminated with the grand car procession that took place later in the evening.
